How I Became a Realtor...
When finally deciding to move out of my hometown, Brooklyn, New York, I had a few options to choose from. It was right after I graduated high school… My mom thought it would be best if I moved to another city near family, in case there was some emergency I needed help with. Ultimately, I chose Dallas because my little brother’s godfather lived here, and it made my mom feel more comfortable with the long move.
When I got to Dallas, I decided to become a real estate agent. After several years, I am proud to say that I am one of the top producing real estate agents in my brokerage and I wouldn’t change it for the world. When looking back on how I got here, there were really a few key moments in my life that got me where I am today…

When looking back on how I got here, there were really a few key moments in my life that got me where I am today…
Growing up in the inner city didn’t set me up for a whole lot of success, but I always knew I wanted more. I remember as a kid, my mom would take my brother and me up to the Pocono Mountains to look at nice homes. One particular time, we toured some homes and our realtor was a well articulate, well dressed, black man with a nice car and I was immediately impressed and inspired to be just like him.
Later in high school, I became apart of this school program that paired inner city kids with prominent businessmen in the New York area.
The guy I was paired with, David Piscuskas, was a very successful architect who had an office on the 11th floor of a building in Midtown New York. He ended up showing me how his business worked, took me to meet other successful people in New York, and even took me to some baseball games. He was not only a mentor, but a father figure to me who was able to show me life outside of the streets.
Once I realized my potential, I quickly outgrew my friends and decided to move. When I finally moved to Dallas, I got a job at Nordstrom to pay for my real estate license, business cards, professional headshots, and professional clothing.
Working at Nordstrom as a personal stylist helped me to meet a lot of new people in the area which ultimately propelled my real estate business into what it is today.
